A blog worth blogging about

I have a confession.....
I am obsessed with a blog:
http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/

I've spent hours reading through old posts. It his hi-larious. It secretly makes me want to be a wreckreporter.

Secretly, of course.

It's the little(r) things

I'm the kind of person who loves to make up words. I often use the endings "ness", "esque", "ly", "y" or "er" at my own discretion. It makes me happy. For example, I often tell my sister Lammy that I miss her very badly-ness. There's more emphasis then on just how bad I miss her. Badly just isn't enough. Catch my drift? Oddly enough, those close to me know exactly what I mean too. I know Lolly could probably think of several of my "words" too. :) That's just how I roll, yo....
Wait... am I even cool enough to say that?

There is one word, however that I think SHOULD be a word. That is "littler". You know like little and er...sort of like smaller... but cuter. I know it's not a word, and I often correct myself because I know it's not proper English (or American?). But I love it. I want it to be a word. So yes I'm sure I will use it here on this blog and you will all grow to love it as I do. (Yes, you will. No, really I'm serious.)

There are some words that I really try hard not to use. But living in the south, I admit that they do slip out from time to time. I really don't like "ain't" (hmm is that spelled right?) and "fixin". Like, "I'm fixin to run to the store". I don't really have any good examples of ain't, because I can't come up with any where it doesn't make you sound really dumb. "I ain't gonna do that", "I ain't got none?" See what I mean? *shudder*

You're really glad you read all this aren't you? Ain't you?
(sorry I couldn't help myself)

What is sadder still, is that ain't doesn't show up as a non-word. You know like when you spell something wrong, and the computer gives it a squiggly red line underneath it to prevent you from appearing to be spelling impaired? Yeh, not there with ain't.
Go figure, right? What's the world coming to? Geesh

A day out for mommy!

Today my friend and I got to take the day off from being Mommy (or part of the day anyway). What fun we had. We've known each other for about 10 years and even though we've had spurts where we haven't been in contact, getting back together always feels like no time has passed at all. I love that girl! :)

We really didn't do anything, per say....I mean we did some shopping, had lunch, went to some antique shops, etc. But it's fun to have a day now and again when you can spend hours looking at antiques, if you want to!

As we went through the day, swapping stories and giggling about the silly things that our kids do, I thought of one of my goals for the new year....Redefining myself. It is days like today that get me back to some of the basics of who I am. Spending time with great friends with whom I can be myself totally, and then coming home to my family and realizing how much I love these knuckleheads. :) It's refreshing to feel this way.

I guess a day out is really what I needed! :)

Almost another year!

Wow I really am a bad blogger. I do try. It's one of my goals for this coming year. So be prepared to be inundated with some pretty boring day-to-day stuff. :)

Sadly, our sweet Snickers isn't with us anymore. She got out of our yard one day (I think she got out under the deck) and we haven't been able to find her. The kids took it kind of hard at first, Robby was the saddest. He still gets sad when he thinks about it. :(
I think we might try getting another dog later in the year. I don't think we'll go the puppy route again, but maybe 2-3 years old. I'd love to get a golden retriever. We could name her Biscuit (Haley has an infatuation with the name biscuit and wanted to name Snickers it too). I guess time will tell.

Christmas was a huge hit. We totally overdid it on the presents. I think next year we'll scale back down. It was just nice to splurge a little this year since I've been working. I think the biggest hits were nerf guns for the whole family and dolls that I made. I promise to get some pictures up soon!!

We've been enjoying family time since Rob doesn't go back to work until this Friday. He's been off since Christmas Eve. And since it's Georgia and cold weather is apparently unheard of, there have been lots of opportunities to play outside. We should have gone camping.

Rather than resolutions for the new year, I'm just setting goals...9 of them (to start with anyway) for 2009! Here's my list...
1. Read my scriptures...everyday. (both privately and with the family). We usually start off good, but then things happen and well that's that.
2. Journal at least weekly, if not everyday. That's where my blog comes in too.
3. Be healthier. I hate to just say "lose weight" even tho that would be the ultimate goal, but I want to eat healthier and exercise more. Which will hopefully result in losing weight! :)
4. Do more creative projects that I want to do.
5. Take more notice in the little things. I have had this real wake up call with how fast my kids are growing. Linds is entering more toddler less baby and before I know it, they will all be grown. I want to cherish this time. I want to do more of the little things with them.
6. Be more organized. Less scatterbrained. I need a system. Not sure what it is yet.
7. Be more confident.
8. Make plans with my photography
9. Redefine myself. Refocus on things that important to me. Live laugh and love. :)

What are your goals or resolutions for 2009?

do I dare?

I'm afraid to say it for fear of jinxing myself (I have too many experiences with that), but I want to shout it from the rooftops at the same time.
DAVID IS POTTY TRAINED!

I honestly thought he might actually go to college in diapers and the rate we were going. I finally gave up trying and decided I had to wait until he was ready. It's not easy tho, waiting. Thank goodness he didn't make me wait too long. :D

it's about time, right?

Sorry I was wrapped up in the world of creating a new blog and well....I'm slow. :)
So, change your links, folks, because this one will soon be obsolete. You can find me now here:
